2011 A4 Wind Noise Pissing me Off!
Guys- I just moved into a 2011 A4 from a BMW 335i. I have to say I like the car a lot but one noticable difference is the cabin wind noise around the driver and passenger door. It is noticably louder the faster you drive. I read some posts that some say its coming from the mirrors. I went to the dealership and they basically say that no one else has complained about it I get the feeling it is not a big deal to them. I don't like it and I want it to go away.
Can anyone else give an idea to help the dealership root cause this thing? Much appreciated.

You'll have to be a bit more specific in what you're hearing. The mirror noise you mentioned, for example, was a whistling that could be heard on some member's A4s but wasn't that common. Narrow it down at least a little or provide more detail and you'll get better info back from members.

How did you determine that it's wind noise? Most of the noise I hear is tire noise - I'm riding on Conti DWS tires. The P7s were quieter before that.
The A4 cabin is very quiet. I find it quieter than Lexus IS 250 also with Conti DWS. It's hard to believe that you can find it much noisier than the 335. The noise is probably different and that's why it has drawn your attention. Give it some time...

Check that you door seals are still in place. The adhesive seems to be pretty weak. I would imagine if they were out of position, more road and wind noise could be heard from inside the cabin.

I am not sure what you are hearing, but I wouldn't think it was a common problem. Being a military member living in Germany, I have ample opportunity to drive on the autobahns. I have had my 2011 A4 P+ up to 209km/h so far and have been very pleased with the quietness of the cabin at higher speeds. Perhaps check your door seals as already mentioned?

Wind Noise A4 continued....
-chalked the door seal, closed the door and opened to look for any areas of weak seal. Result - nothing.
-masked tape around the door. Result - no change
-masked around the window. Result - no change
-masked around the mirror. Result - no change
-folded the mirror all the way in. Result - NOISE WAS LOUDER!
The noise sounds as if the window is slightly cracked. It is definitely wind but no air is felt anywhere. I actually went to the dealership and we drove my car and another A4 on the lot. Me and the Service Manager could hear it on both vehicles. I think it's in the mirror somewhere but not sure. Thanks.
