Hey everyone. I'm looking to purchase a used Audi A4 s line. It's hard to find information on this whole oil consumption thing. I know that 2011 was a bad year. I've seen threads showing that the engine was fixed in 2012 and the reliability is much better...but this thread is saying that it was only fixed in 2013. Does anyone know for certain?

US B8.5 (MY2013) can be considered totally fixed. US B8 (including MY2012) cannot. I would only look at CPO B8 cars, or cars that have had this issue fixed and documented as such.

That's my view from owning 2 of these failures (2010 A4 and 2011 Q5) and having to fix one on my own dime.

CPO B8 cars can still be a PITA due to the time to complete repairs and the $85 deductible on the repair. Also there's the 6 year CPO timeframe so if they buy a 2011 it may be out of warranty next year.

Thanks Pierreb. What a bummer since I saw a used 2012 A4 s line for a good price but I'd be going from an Infiniti G35 which has been really reliable and don't want a headache car. From the consumer reports it looked like the 2012's were fixed but I can't find anything in black & white.
