2013 A4 manual transmission question
Hi,
New member, but an owner since 1990 (80Q and four A4s). My 2013 A4 (40K mileage) had an interesting failure yesterday with the transmission that fixed itself the next day.
While driving, the gear shift lost all resistance and it became almost impossible to shift. It happened while making a left across two lanes of traffic. First was fine, but when I tried to shift into second, I hit resistance and couldn't engage. I managed to get third, but the revs were so slow I almost stalled.
The shift had absolutely no resistance - it flopped around like a dead fish. Shifting was awful - had to "hunt" for gears. First to fourth was just as likely as first to second until I got the hang of it.
Then, the next day everything was back to normal - shift centered, good resistance, shifts cleanly.
Does anyone know if this is "artificially" created resistance like the steering? If this electronics failure waiting to happen?
