Add a tiny bit of oil to bring it up to the top notch. Don't worry about oil consumption; the 2014 engine is fine. Be more worried about lightning hitting you on a leap-year June 31.

I change my own oil and filter, every 5k miles or 6 months whichever comes earlier.

2014 Allroad P+, Glacier White/Titanium, Full paint, Sport package, Nav, Keyless, B&O, Rear Camera, Side Assist.

I change oil every 5,000 to be safe. That's if you want to prolong your engine life beyond 100,000 miles.
If you change cars when you reach 30,000 miles or 50,000 miles, then it's up to you.

What I was thinking is:
If I change the oil every 5K it will be always the same oil and no mix. If it makes any differences.
Or its just a waste of money changing oil every 5K.

Looks like its normal oil consumption according to the previous responses.

Also I was wondering if I should take it to a dealer for oil consumption test.

I think to keep this one for a long time, this is why Im looking for a good way to keep this car running.
Planning to change the oil every 5K, not crazy expensive.

Thank you all for your comments.

Changing the oil more often will not increase the longevity of the engine. Proper lubrication depends on the additives in the oil that become depleted as you drive. If you are using the specified oil with VW 502 approval printed on the bottle you will be fine for 10,000 miles or one year. The additive package is about 50% to 75% greater in VW 502 approved oils than others in the Mobil 1 or Castrol synthetic range.

The one year limit is very important for those that do not drive 10,000 miles in a year. The additive package begins to deteriorate as soon as it is exposed to the products of combustion in the engine.

The color or odor of the oil offer no information as to the condition of the oil. A lab like Blackstone can analyze your oil to give true peace of mind.

My car has 140,000 miles. A recent tear down showed virtually no wear on bearing surfaces. The timing chain was near the end of its mechanical stretch limits. Blackstone tells me I use about 80% of the additives in 10,000 miles between oil changes.

I don't have a problem with your scenario but if you are adding 1 or 2 or 3 quarts in 10,000 miles then you will not reach the 80% that you describe. It would be interesting to have the oil checked at 3000 , 5000 , 7000 and 10000 just to see what the results tell us. I also think for the DIY'er the color of oil is a good indicator of the engine. The bi-products of combustion usually darken the oil. I also believe if you consume oil then you are contaminating it . My V6 Lexus is just turning 35K miles with changes every 5K miles. Visual comparison of the old oil vs the new oil appears the same even though an oil test would prove different but it is not darker and the same goes for our Volvo with 350K on the orig. engine. My Jag on the other hand does not let me see the color as it is total e-dipstick so it gets changed once a year which is about 6K miles. Oh by the way never have to add oil to any of the cars except my kids Audi (3000 miles per quart). So I'll stick with 5K intervals at this point. Just my opinion

Almost all synthetic oils turn very dark immediately when subjected to engine heat, not so with conventional oils. Thus the old dirty oil observation doesn't hold true for synthetic oils.

Interesting point , so I'll have to check that out. If true then I can understand why all of my cars and truck have clean oil up to the 5K change. I usually use dino oil as it's lifespan is good enough for 5K miles.

My oil is the opposite, it always stay at or near Max level. I put Lucas Synthetic Oil Stabilizer to minimize oil burn on my S5 which has a V8 engine and I rev it to almost redline. I like it on my S5.

Amazon.com: Lucas 10130 Synthetic Oil Stabilizer. Quart: Automotive Amazon.com: Lucas 10130 Synthetic Oil Stabilizer. Quart: Automotive

I also just did a Revo Stage 1 on my Audi A4 allroad - and the Revo installer recommend BG MOA to make sure your oil life is protected and extended, so I put that too. You can look at Youtube for some of their demos. I just put this on my A4 allroad a few days ago, so I don't know how it goes. I'll know in a few months.
