2015 A4 2.0T, oil consumption concerns?
Hi, I'm new to the Audi brand. Just bought a 2015 A4 PP. Is the oil consumption issue still a concern with this model year engine? I heard this issue may have been addressed…if so, what did Audi do? New piston ring material or design?
Thanks for the help.
Now for most controversial issue: soft break-in or hard break-in? Maybe I should flip a coin

Although probably a bit early to figure out, the techs at the Audi dealer where I work say that this problem seems to have gone away with the 13's forward. I do not know what has been done to fix the problem, although I do know that there are many changes other than cosmetic when the 13's came out. The 14 and 15's are pretty much the same.

I have a new A4 2.0 6 speed manual and was advised by the service manager that oil consumption would not be an issue. With close to 2000 miles on the machine the oil level is still at max. I don't expect to add any before the first change at 5000 miles.
For break in I didn't baby or abuse and used the owners manual as a guide.

Jorg, welcome aboard. While I don't know of anyone here that can definitively address your concern, we can hope they've finally got the thirst for oil under control.
We have a 4 cyl 2015 Q5 and it consumed about 4 ozs of oil thru its first check up at 5,000 miles. Let's hope it remains at that level and does not get any worse.
Enjoy your new ride!

Think about this . The oil issues started back when Audi went with the 2.0L engine. They made a engine design change in 2009 and you continued to hear about oil consumption issues . Then there were rumors that the problem was fixed with the 2012 MY cars. Now here you have experienced a minor loss of 4 oz. and we assume there is no leaks. Not having the overall data to prove or disprove that the problem is fixed one has to look at history to draw a conclusion. Mine is the problem is still there but at 4 oz loss it is manageable but what will it be in a few more years.

I'll try to help you here (tic) . If there is any oil consumption within the 5000 mile change then the problem is not fixed. That means "0" reduction on the MMI or on a dip stick. So the conclusion would be they did not fix the problem. Got it now ?

I may arrive at a different conclusion. And I'll wait 'til we hear from additional owners of 2015MY 4 cylinder Audis. I think it might be prudent to have a few more folks report in
All cars consume oil. In some cases it's discernible, in other cases it's not.

You ARE kidding, right?
4 oz. is 1/8 of a quart. Yes, one-eighth of a quart, used in 5000 miles, in a new engine.
At that rate, the car would consume one quart in 40,000 miles.
That is NOT an oil consumption issue.
What it is, is negligible.
