Flat clip? I'm not sure I noticed that. If so...mind blown!

I have decided I'm not a fan of the little rubber pull-out tray in the glove box for my iphone/ipod/etc. Too much of a PITA to lean over, slide out, plug in, and get to when I leave the car. I've seen other brands/models that put it in the center console box. Wish Audi did that here. Much easier to get to.

Oh man. No no no. You have an Audi. That means you're rich enough to have a spare ipod that you leave in the car at all times! Ha. I keep an old iPhone 3 in there, but anymore most of my music I just stream over bluetooth.

I agree with the pull out tray/box/thing being absolute rubbish. It looks like a decent place to stash a wallet in the event that you were at the beach and locked the wallet in the glove box. I've decided that the best choice for me was to hit up Amazon and get a cheapo MMI cable. I got a 2 meter MMI-AUX for like $12 delivered. I would think that there is an iPhone cable too for around the same price. It was a real issue when I would have my iPhone connected to the MMI cable and I would get a phone call. (phone's bluetooth is broken, pre-ording the 6s the second I can.)

For those that are still following along with my vibration issue, here's an update:

It was decided that I needed a new Audi wheel, and that the other one, while in spec with wheel weights on it, is right at the end of the spec chart. No room for error. In fact, I was told that it would drive/handle fine as long as the wheel was in the driver's side rear location, but when I moved it in 5k miles for rotation, that it would induce the vibration again. So the dealership decided to order a new wheel. And I will say they seemed reluctant to do it. To me, it should have been a quick "This guy spent a good bit of money here 4 days ago, and it ain't right, so get a new tire and/or wheel in here post-f'ing haste".

It wasn't that. At all. There seemed to be some hemming and hawing around about it. Like I said, I had to go back 2x, 2 separate days on this. Day one was the full on check of all the suspension, all wheels checked for balance, and multiple test rides, only to end up hours later saying "we want you to come back when we can get our regional service manager here to basically double-check behind the tech who just did the work, so we can do it all again."

And they did. A few days later, I dropped it off again, got a loaner, and at the end of the day I was told "Yep. We're ordering a wheel."

OK. I have a short fuse generally and have no problem pulling someone over a desk if need be to make my point, but I tamped the fuse this time. I re-iterated that I JUST bought the car, have two HUNDRED miles on it, someone SHOULD have noticed the vibration well before I got to it to buy it, but..OK. Mistakes happen.

Thing is, this OEM wheel is powdercoated. Black. So we have to GET it here (from Das Motherland...none in the US) and THEN it goes out for powdercoating, and THEN they call me. Grrrr....

So 2-3 weeks later, they call. It's here. The next day I go in, and.. wait it out in their service area and tv area. Shouldn't take long for the swap and road test, right?

90 minutes later, they have not moved the car from the dropoff. I go see what the issue is. I had an appt. What's going on here?

We walk to the service area to see a bunch of guys looking at a wheel and making sure it's true.

I slide up with the svc guy and he says "Are we good to go?"

I say "Nice wheel. Whose is it?"

"It's yours."

"No it's not. That's not what's on my car."

"Yes, it is."

"Nope. Not mine. That's not my wheel."

"Yes it is."

"Grab the wheel and bring it up front, Smart Guy."

Nope. They ordered the wrong one. Goddamn it.

So, back to Square One. Back to Das Homeland. Back to the powdercoaters. Back to the shop, at least once it gets here.

Svc. writer did say "We can get it overnight if Germany has it. It's waaaay expensive though, and we could jump the line at the powdercoaters, but it's like a 20% upcharge, so..."

I cut him off, leaned in, and said "Now would be a good time for you to do that and just eat those charges."

He said "I'll see what I can do."

Which reminds me. It's been a couple days. I need to call him tomorrow and see where we are.

I did get a call from Audi Corp though that I have not had a chance to talk to the guy yet as well. Been playing phone tag. I'm sure that having a new car back in the shop 2x within the first week of ownership set off red flags somewhere. Can't wait to fill him in.

I'm the kind of guy that cannot f'ing stand incompetence. Just makes me boil over. Not sure I'll be able to hold my tongue if I have to take another lap around Retard Park.

More when I know it....

Sucks about the wheel. Hope you get it solved soon. As for the flat clip, I use mine for my registration and insurance info, to keep it from getting lost amongst everything else in the trunk. I'll have to go find a pen now, and an air pressure gauge, for the other clips. Regarding the full-time ipod in the glove box, my ipod overheats fairly often during the summer months when I leave it in there. Is that happening to anybody else and is there an easy solution?

Detail? Sure. Gotta know what that stuff is so I get my money's worth, right!
Will use of an aftermarket air pressure gauge void my warranty?

I may have missed it but I have to ask. Was a Hunter balancer indicating the wheel was bent and if so, did anyone suggest trying to have the wheel straightened?
I've had several wheels bent due to potholes and in every case was able to bring them back to perfectly round by a wheel repair specialist for about $100. Only once was a wheel trashed beyond repair - it looked like a pretzel after falling in a two foot deep hole.

Update and more woes: I finally got the right wheel powdercoated and installed. Now, I can finally drive this new car instead of letting the techs drive it all the time.

Had it about another week or two, and the LOW TIRE AIR PRESSURE warning pops up on the dash. Says it's the left front. I check the air with a really good solid gauge that I use on my trackbikes, and it's right where it should be. I reset the dash computer to tell it "OK NOW use this as the baseline and the correct PSI." Weird.

Another 10 days, and yep: again. Same tire Left front. I check it, it's on spec, reset it.

Another week or so, and another low PSI warning. Same tire. This time I don't touch it, and take it....wait for it...BACK to the dealer to let them check it. They do, it's fine, collectively scratch their.....heads, and send me off, calling it fixed.

I go another 3 days, and another low PSI warning, Same LF tire. I don't touch it, and take it back in. They replace the entire wheel bearing, which I was told has the sensor in it that handles the low PSI warnings. They gave me a loaner this time.

Another 4 days, and...same warning, same tire. It goes back in. This time they keep it for a solid 6-7 days. Head tech drives it as his car for a while. Says he hears some sort of grinding or pulsing in the LF wheel. So...new powdercoated wheel, and brand new tire. I get it back, turn in the loaner, and I've had it about a week now, just in time for my free 90 day Sirius to run out. So I called and told the service guy I'd like an extension on the Sirius, which only seems right since you guys had if for a good part of my trial. No problem they say.

For me, I've had this new car exactly 3 months yesterday, and...I'm not impressed. I expected/hoped to see the dealer @ 5k/15k/25k etc, not this often. When Audi HQ calls me again to ask "How'd we do?", he better pull up a chair...
