Default A4 Warranty Expiration

Hey all, I just a few weeks ago joined the Audi family and got myself a 2011 A4 and love it so far

Anyway, it has 48.5k miles on it and I know the warranty expires at 50k.

I was looking to see if anyone had any advice on what (if anything) I should do. Should I bring it in for just a look-over while it's still covered? Is there anything that might be an issue down the road that I should have them look at? I haven't had it for long enough to notice any significant problems, then again I'm not quite a car expert so I wouldn't really know what to look for.

Any advice would be much appreciated!

If you will be without a warranty (i.e. - not certified car), my best advice would be to put a chunk of money into a savings account each month for future maintainance/repairs. A4's are very expensive to maintain and even worse when repairs are required. Self-funding is ok as long as you plan now. Some of these cars go miles without any significant issues and some are in the shop constantly.

We drove a 2005 A4Q 1.8T 6-speed for 70k+ miles and needed only routine maintenance, which I or a good independent shop in town did (e.g., regular 5k oil changes with Total 5W40 synthetic). We replaced that car in August with a 2009 A4Q 2.0T 6-speed (as 3rd owners with 90k+ miles), and soon noticed the dreaded excessive oil consumption problem (I commute 200-400 miles a week), so you should definitely watch for that.

Long story short, the local dealer just finished replacing the engine pistons/rings (with a brand new A4 S-line loaner for 4+ days) covered fully under "warranty" by Audi of America, although the car has been out-of-warranty for some time.

Knock-on-wood, you have one of the good ones (and find a good independent shop in your area).

have an independent go thru a complete check up then take it to the dealer for repairs
things to look for.
water pump, oil filter housing, upper control arm bushings inner axle boots

hardly anything will be needed until around 80k miles.
I would suggest getting an extended warranty.

I really appreciate this response, cos I am a new owner of a 2012 A4 non-CPO. I have owned a 2002 A4 1.8QT and it has been relatively painless cost-wise thru its current 130K miles (a few issues fixed, but nothing major). This has encouraged me to buy another Audi, but for these new Audis, would you suggest going to Audi or others for an extended warranty? And what is the range of prices to expect/pay for one?

Thanks
