Default Advice on high mileage A4 2013

Hey all!

I'm looking to get some advice/opinions on a 2013 A4 I am considering buying. I have never owned an Audi and I have doing a lot of research over the last few weeks that has seemed to confuse me even more. I've read horror stories about people's experiences and also heard nothing but good about these cars. Anyway...on to the question. I am looking at a 2013 A4. 1 owner and the car is in perfect condition. Looks like I'm going to be able to get out the door with this car for just under $22,000. My only and biggest concern is...the car has 93,000 miles on it. Carfax shows no issues and that the car has been well maintained. Does this sound like a good deal or something I should stay away from? Any advice would be appreciated!

The dealer couldn't provide service records other than what is shown on the Carfax. I guess it goes back to the age old argument of newer car higher miles vs older car lower miles. I just need a little help to sway my mind one way or the other.

If the car was serviced by an Audi dealer, the records should be in the computer. With no service records and no warranty I'd run, not walk, to the nearest 2011-2012 CPO A4. You'd still get a B8 but with much more security. I haven't priced them but I'll bet they would be in the mid-20s. If you really like the car pay for a thorough pre-purchase inspection by another dealer or independent. If you use a dealer he may be able to find service records in the computer that your selling dealer can't. Good luck.

Out off curiosity I checked out cars.com and found a 2013 A4, PP, Quattro with about 93,000 miles at a Kia dealer in Muncie. The punch line? $21,754. Dat you?

Totally agree with Diogenes. Having gone down this path more than a few times. Carfax records can be incomplete, especially on records regarding accidents. I would do the following:
  1. Get a mechanical inspection (dealer or quality shop)
  2. Get an inspection from a good auto body repair shop. They can inspect a car and quickly discover signs of collision that will not be apparent to the untrained eye.
  3. Ask the dealer for records. I don't know whether they have any policy around this, but I've gotten a dealership to black out all customer data and photocopy records for me.

Overall: That sounds like a lot of money for such high mileage. If you can go CPO, you'll have lower miles, extended warranty, etc.

A high mileage A4 from a Kia dealer? Go CPO. You'll be a happy boy. Cheers!

Only things I usually worry about with a high miles newer car are where it would have been driven.

NYC will destroy the front end suspension on our cars quickly.
Was service done, about all it likely needed was oil changes.

If those seem good and the car is good, likely I'd do it.
