Authoritative Misano Red vs. Brilliant Red comparison photo thread (56k'ers are forced to buy a BMW)
I spent a lot of time comparing the 2 colors before placing my B8 order, and want to share the fruits of my labor to help others in their decision. (No, I did not add the kiddie captions to talk to myself, those were added for your benefit!)
For those who don't want to scroll down or wait for the photos to load, this is how I can best describe each color:
Brilliant Red
Deep, bright, vibrant red with cooler tone that includes more blue/magenta; appears and behaves like most standard solid red paint
Misano Red
(I have this color now on my A3 if anyone has more specific questions)
Pearl metallic red with warmer tone that includes more yellow/orange; Metal flakes sometimes appear gold in direct light, and indoor fluorescent lightning tends to cast a bright orange hue in highlight areas; Looks like conventional (flat) red paint in overcast skies, and in bright sunshine sometimes looks pale pink like a less-than-ripe tomato in certain angles (because the highlight areas don't reflect as much of the blue sky as Brilliant Red).
Special thanks to Jeremy McLean at Jim Ellis Audi for allowing me to reposition their vehicles to accommodate side-by-side photography. Also thanks to Audi of America for not glaring at me when I parked my A3 next to their model line-up at the Audi Driving Experience display.

The brilliant red looks better on the '09 A4 for some reason...
Maybe the car's angles make it better suited.
I like the red, but did you consider silver? I like silver as Audi's traditionally look good with it and resale is generally higher.

If I were getting silver, it would be Monza. After that, I like Quartz Gray.
I chose red because I know will enjoy it the most. Though I could change my mind tomorrow, LOL.
I agree silver looks great on Audi's, but I would never pick a color because it may have marginally better resale value (why settle for your 2nd choice color for 3-5 years just to make the next buyer happy?). Dealers will give you more money for black, silver, gray, and white cars but I never trade-in my cars anyway and always do very well selling privately. Have you looked at any Audi, BMW, or MB dealership lately? It's a sea of black, dark gray, light gray, silver, more gray, warm gray, cool gray, with specks of white intermixed here and there. I refuse to be assimilated (for now), though I read that white is the new silver (in terms of most popular color).

Have you seen Monza and Quartx side by side?
Since I'd be going with the S-line Avant, I would lean towards Monza silver since its an S-line exclusive color but I have seen the Quartz gray in the A6 and it looked really good especially with the amaretto leather.
