For the Front brakes, here is a video that walks you through what you need and how to do it:
2010-2014 Audi A4 B8 Front Brake Pads and Brake Rotor Replacement
Tools needed:
Large C-clamp
21MM Socket, 2 Inch extension, breaker bar, ratchet
T30 Torx screwdriver or bit (use the one in the trunk toolkit)
Screwdrivers or pry tool
Large rubber mallet
Brake Cleaner Spray
PB Blaster penetrating oil
Disc Brake Quiet/lube (comes with the brake pad set but you may need more)
Parts Installed:
2 Brake Rotors from Autozone: Duralast 45600 $33.99 each
Brake Pad set from Advance Auto Parts:
Akebono Euro Ceramic Brake Pads with Sensor EUR1322 $81.99
Total Cost: $149.97 vs. Dealer $650
Torque the 2 21mm bolts to 140 Foot Pounds, which is really tight. Like put all your weight on it tight. If you fail to tighten these bolts enough, you will have problems.
This took me about 3 hours, 2 hours for one side, one hour for the other once I knew what I was doing.

[QUOTE=Van1401;24595539]Hi,
I am trying to buy a used 2011 Audi A4. And in Pre-purchase vehicle inspection mechanic told me that the rotors and pads are gone as this car was sitting in garage for year.
He gave me an estimate of $1500 for all of them including labor. The car is still under warranty, I know pads are not covered but does rotors come under warranty?
Is $1500 is a good estimate? Can I expect same estimate if I go to Audi?
Please advice.[/QUOT
I must be missing something but maybe you can inform us. Are you buying this from a dealer or a private sale. If a dealer I would have them do the work as part of the deal and if private I would negotiate the price down to get the repair done. Next how many miles are on the car and have the brake pads been replaced before. Now you also need more info from the PPI guy. The min and max thickness is stamped on the brake rotor. Ask him what the thickness of the rotors were. Also what was the thickness of the remaining pad material. What was the surface of the rotors . Were there any grooves or when he checked them for run out were they within spec and not warped. After you have this info you can then make the decision if you need to replace rotors as well as pads. You also need to have him verify it on all 4 wheels. Unless he can provide you with this information I would not take his advice. Remember , trust but verify.
