Other than buying a Certified Pre-Owned vehicle is there an option to extend the original warranty on a new Audi? I want to order a '10 A4 6-spd (when they're available). Waiting to find a CPO '09 6-spd will probably be at least a year.

So do I have any options other than a 3rd party warranty?

Any info on an Audi backed extended warranty would be greatly appreciated. Or recommendations for solid 3rd party warranty companys.

No direct factory extended warranties that I'm aware of. Audi dealers sell 3rd party warranties that are often honored by all Audi dealers. Be sure to check the fine print.

you can buy an extended service warranty for your Audi. it's in my oppinion better than a CPO because it can be tailored to your needs. if you just want to warranty the powertrain or the entire car you have options. you also have options on years and deductible amounts. i know because i work for audi. i'd be happy to help you out with it if you like. you can give me a call. 610-649-3200. my name is Ted.

I just purchased an A4 B8 and also wanted to extend the warranty beyond 48 months. It seemed to me that the options I chose: Audi Drive Select, Tech Package, and Navi etc. could all get very expensive if they were to fail when Audi warranty ran out.

The dealer I purchased my Audi from provided an Audi backed third party warranty (from a company called The Sovereign). The options I chose were to extend the factory warranty by another 3 years (total 72 months) and a total of 120,000km (75,000 miles).

I picked the option which provided bumper to bumper coverage. Since there's always fine print and this coverage seemed almost too good, I spoke to the service department to confirm there were hidden limitations. They indicated that they would definitely cover things like ADS, B&O, Navi into the 7th year (basically bumper to bumper as promised).

It wasn't cheap (about $2000 Cdn), but given that repairs to any of the components described above likely require full replacement of a fairly expensive part, it seemed like a good investment. Plus it's transferable and therefore should improve resale value.

At least that's how I justified the purchase (hopefully I'll never need it, but I'll sleep easier knowing it's there....).
