Default Can you dim or turn off the MMI display for driving at night?

When I was a teenager I had a Ford Bronco in which there was a *very* bright dashboard light that would shine directly into my eyes when I drove at night. It was pretty annoying and I had to place a piece of tap over it.

The B8's night displays are mostly that nice, ambient red (correct?), but how is the MMI display? Does it throw an overabundance of light into the cabin?

How is the car's night-driving environment overall?

Default I believe you can...

but I haven't found it distracting at it's default settings. I think you can enable a 'dark' mode which turns it off.

Like all Audis, there is an ambient light sensor that auto dims all interior lighting.

Default Really? I never even noticed in my B6.

I guess that means it works.

#1 yes; #2 it is typically done automatically if you don't want to have to do it manually.

On the B6, look at the base of the speedometer on the left and you'll see the round light sensor

Default car>setup>display

You can adjust the actual brightness of the MMI screen and switch off the display completely if you like as well.

Also, the smaller switch near the headlight switch pops out to adjust the brightness of just the dashboard area.

there's a **** to control brightness next to the headlights.

The display should darken when the headlights turn on as well (from the light sensor).

Also... hold down your stereo volume button for 1-2 seconds and it will turn the whole system off, and just be a black screen with the audi logo...

OR..

Settings > Turn display off
