Carbon Buildup
Total noob here. So please understand if I'm asking something stupid.
I'm looking to purchase a 2015 A4 Quattro. I know they have direct injection and all engines with direct injection can have problems with carbon buildup on the intake valves.
I think I read somewhere that Audi strongly recommends Shell gasoline to prevent this problem. Unfortunately, Shell abandoned my area about a year ago, so there is none to be found here.
We mainly have Phillips 66 and Conoco stations.
Will using a Top Tier gasoline like 66/Conoco cause carbon buildup? If so, is there something I can add to the tank to help prevent it?

I would not consider myself any type of expert in this field (or in anything for that matter!) but I cant imagine this being a critical variable. As long as you're using brand name high octane gas, i'm sure you'll be fine. I certainly wouldn't let that be a major point in the decision to get the car, or not.

Cowboy, welcome aboard!
is carbon build-up on the 4 cyl 2.0L engine an issue at this time?

Carbon build-up is not a major issue with the EA888 engine. The older EA113 engine in the B7, as well as the normally aspirated 3.2/4.2 FSI are much more susceptible.
