Front license plate mounting
Hello all. Just took delivery of a 2015 A4 and the dealer screwed the front tag into the mounting rectangle using ordinary sheet metal screws. There are no pre-drilled holes with attached nuts (allowing for use of machine screws instead of sheet-metal screws) as there are for the rear plate. The dealer simply threaded the sheet-metal screw into the smooth plastic face of the mounting box (see attached pic). Is this the correct procedure? It does not seem very secure to me. I'd rather have a bolt on the back of the screw.

That's normally what they do. I went out to a hardware store and purchased some Stainless Steel screws and replaced them. Just take one of their screws out and match it up so you don't ruin the hole they put in. You can also put in 2 more screws if you want as most plates have 4 mounting holes. I also used a chrome surround frame.
