Default new oil

Hey guys, so i am putting more oil into my car. I was wondering what oil Audi manufactures put in there cars. I bought my car pre-owned, I just bought mobil 1 0W-40. can I just put that oil in or would it be bad for my car to put two different types of oil in it of they dont use that oil.

0W-40 is OK as is 5W-40 Castrol which to my knowledge is the recommended brand by Audi. What year is your car and how much oil is it using.

Fifth, you're going to have to ask the dealer what oil they use assuming they did the last change.

My local dealer seems to have a Castrol 5W40 product at times. They also claim to be using the Mobil 1 0W40. Who knows?

The Mobil 1 0W40 is fully compliant in your car as it meets the VAG 502.00 quality standard.

Any oil that says it is VW compliant on the label is fine.

I just bought a 2015 CPO A4 and did a little research before buying. There are threads on here and other websites discussing oil consumption issues on 2009 - 2011 2.0T engines. It also doesn't seem to be clear if the problem was resolved completely in 2012 or 2013. If you are using a lot of oil, you may want to search the topic on here to understand any potential issues you could be up against.

I went through the oil consumption issue with my 2008 B7 A4. I picked it up a lease return CPO with about 30000 miles. I noticed what I thought was excessive oil consumption. The dealer did a consumption test, replaced the PCV valve and made some software changes. A few months later I went in and got new rings. All under warranty. It has been fine since and I'm looking to replace it with another CPO A4. I would have no hesitation getting another 2.0 engine.
As I recall, the 2015 does not have a dipstick. Get one from the dealer and track your oil consumption monthly and see what happens. I'll bet you'll be fine. If not, Audi should take care of it. Use a fully synthetic oil meeting the VW 502.00 standard. I use Mobil 10W40.
