Okay do I have to have som "gizmo" to reset oil service light on my wife's 2009 Audi A4 Quattro 2.0T

Is there an oil service light in our car? Mine says Service Due and only the dealer can turn off this one or someone has the software to do it.

A4 B8 has counters both for Oil Change and Service Inspection. The service inspection needs to be reset via the diagnosis connection. It also says in the manual that the MMI Oil Reset function only resets to fixed oil change interval. Those who want "Long Life" oil change intervals also needs the diagnose tool.

Okay I have given up. I bought the "gizmo" from OBDCOM. The "gizmo" cost me about 87.00 and it hooks to laptop. I have no idea how well this will work but we will see I will hook up and try to video right from the box. I will be trying to hook up to an older laptop I had sooooo.......we shall see.

The hype says will reset codes, read codes all with 24 hour help line.

That device will allow you to read and clear generic OBD codes, but I doubt it will give you access to the menus required to reset the service indicator. You will need VCDS(VagCom) to do that.
