SD Card Problem in 09 Audi A4
#11
Some content producers insist on strict controls for music on iTunes. These are usually established, older acts that don't need the exposure to become more well known.
New acts, and those without a lot of airplay, want their music to be further distributed, so they don't lock the bits. They want you to share.

The 2009 SD reader is essentially useless.
Very disappointed with Audi for putting this ridiculously out of date reader in. I gave up on it within the first week.

I got tired of the size restriction and wanted my whole library available, so got the AMI cable that ends in a female USB plug from ebay as well as a $50 64GB USB stick.
Copy and paste and voila, everything is there. The only issue is that you need a good organization system, otherwise you are spinning the control **** for days to scroll through folders and songs.

I bought one of those too, simply because I don't use Apple stuff, and wanted the option to use that interface. I had assumed (or maybe read) that the same 32GB limit (from my '11) would apply that exists on the SD cards. Is that not true? Are you able to access/read the entire 64GB? Do you not still have the roughly 4000 song limit? I thought I read that limit existed for each source?

Yes, I know what the problem is since I have the same car. You can only use SD cards, most of which are only 2 GB. However, if you look closely enough, you can still find 4 GB SD cards. They do work in the Audi 2009. As for the music, you'll want to convert your files over to MP3. For some strange reason, I can only put about 90 songs per 4 GB SD card.

I've not had any problems - I've got about 40 GB on it without issue. It has about 6,700 songs in various folders and subfolders - I think the stated somg limit is per folder, but if you had more than a few hundred in a folder you would be annoyed pretty quick scrolling through them with the MMI ****.
