Default Test driving A4 Avant tomorrow

I'm going to test drive a 2010 A4 Avant tomorrow and before I head out, wanted to see if the current carfax scares anybody away. It has 5 previous owners, but is a low mileage car at 53K. However, most of the major services look like they've been performed. link to Carfax.
It's black/black avant premium plus with navigation priced at $17.5. Seems like a good deal on the surface, but want to get experts opinion. I know about the oil consumption issue and plan on asking the owner about it. Will probably get a PPI done on it as well if I end up liking it.
I still don't know if an A4 is right for me. I have 2 boys (5 & 3) and feel like the backseat is awfully cramped. I love the Avant b/c I have 2 dogs as well and really welcome the additional space for them. But like I said, this looks like too good of an offer to pass up a test drive.

Hi Matt-
Im just taking a guess: maybe the original owner moved a few times and hence the "ownership" changes in CF?!?!? Or maybe the car was registered in different states for whatever reason, and it appears to be many owners...just a guess.
As for if the car is right for you; I just got my Avant like yours, and coming from an E500 wagon, this car is much smaller. I dont have younger kids or dogs, so it was a non-issue for me. I'm 5'9- 155 lbs and slim; i have my seat almost fully back. with younger kids, their feet may be kicking the back of front seats as they get taller. Have you considered the A6 Avant? I wanted one, but '11 or '10 are hard to find.

Good luck with your decision....cheers!

I actually test drove a different A4 avant and had the drivers seat positioned in a spot that was comfortable for me and moved to the back. For short rides around town, I think it would be ok for an adult, so should be OK for kids, but it is much tighter than my current car (2010 Hyundai Genesis sedan). I've considered an A6, but would prefer an Avant, which is even harder to find than an A4 Avant! Not to mention more $$$. We'll see how tomorrow goes.

There is a lot more room then I thought.

If you adjust the seat and steering wheel right, you can actually move the drivers seat forward and still be comfortable or in your preferred driving position.

I am 5'10" and came from a b7 passat wagon and cc, now in a b8.5 allroad
