Tinted the Avant
I finally got the car tinted last week. 3M Crystalline - 40% all around with 90% on the windshield. Visibly, you can not tell there is anything on the windshield. I had Solar Tint of Cincinnati do the job. A bit of a drive for me, but well worth it. They did an excellent job. A friend brought his '14 Charger too, so we each received a 10% discount.
My other 2 cars have 50%, nothing on the windshield. With the red exterior and black interior on this car I went darker. 40% is the darkest in this line of tint, but the Crystalline cuts the heat really well. I can definitely feel the difference when driving.

Solar Tint Cincinnati charges $399 for Crystalline on a sedan, $449 for an Avant. That's about as cheap as I've found. I had gotten prices as high as $650 from other installers. That does not include the windshield. Add $200 for that.
There are other 3M tints at about half the price, but you have to go darker to get the heat reduction.
There are lots of technologies out there. Ceramics and multilayer tend to be higher end (and priced). If you go cheaper be sure it is color stable, or it could turn on you. You also want to be avoid metalized films, if you are worried about cell phone / gps reception.

I live in utah so the rates are different. But I did all of my back windows with 20% light for $200 I am debating doing the front ones (even though its illegal) if you have opinions on that feel free to let me know. But I love my windows blacked.

I think that would look great, even more so on certain colors, like white or red. I wanted the tint to be consistent on all the windows and I didn't want the fronts to be too dark. Going past legal limits depends on how the local police enforce it. Usually around me, the police won't pull you over for it, but if you get pulled over, they may very well cite you for it. If you do get pulled over, put all the windows all the way down. If pulled over at night, turn on the interior light. It will make the officer much more at ease, if he can see that no one in the car has any weapons pointed at him. He may not even think about checking the tint at that point.
