Default Trouble removing the key fob from the ignition slot

Not sure if I'm doing something wrong, but more than half the time after I shut the engine down, I can't remove the key fob from the ignition slot...have to restart the engine, shut it down and then remove it (sometimes takes 2-3 tries). Anyone else have this problem?

Never had a problem yet. When the car is off, it should just pull out every time.

Default I have.

In 3 out of the 4 cars I have test driven it has been an issue. Just make sure that you dont have much on the keychain. if there is any weight that pulls it or lifts the fob up or down, it will not return the key to you. I had no idea it was so sensitive, but with the problems I had, I knew there had to be a reason for it.

Default Re: I have.

I do have 10 or so keys on my key ring, including a key fob for my wife's Pilot...I'll see what happens if I remove the other keys or maybe just try to lift the other keys to reduce the weight on the Audi fob before shutting the engine down. Thanks.

Default Same here although now that my defective on/off switch was replaced..

I don't using the slot any more due to the advanced key feature.
I had some other keys including my heavy allroad key on the ring so that may have been the cause.

Default I did at the beginning, but not anymore

I had this problem the first 3 or 4 times I shut the car. Trick is not to pull the key out too quickly or too soon after shutting the car. Wait about 2 seconds after pushing it in and it will slide out easy. I thought it might have been the weight from my other keys (have about 10), but since I've been waiting those 2 seconds, I haven't had a problem.

Explains it....I always waited a few seconds naturally before pulling the key out.

Default Solution......

I was having this problem as well, had to keep restarting car and hoping it would release. It was fixed when I realized that when I pushed the key to turn the car off, DO NOT PULL on the key. Just push it, the car turns off and you will hear a slight click, then you can pull the key out. You almost have to wait 2 seconds for it to release. I have not had it get stuck again, after realizing this. Hope this helps.
