I really could use some help asap from you all knowledge owners of Audi. I found an Audi A4 2011, base model with fwd. I drove 100 miles to look at the car.
Issue 1: when starting, it hesitates. Takes extra few seconds to start.

Issue 2: when I put it on drive, car is moving but I step on the gas but neither rpm goes up, not the car picks up speed. It picks up speed at a very slow rate but eventually it will pick up speed and go faster.

Car is in very nice condition inside and out. I'm not sure what is going on with this car mechanically but could you please give me some suggestions if I'm looking at some serious repairs?

I'm getting a very good bargain for this car. So considering the low price I'm not worried about doing some $2,000 repair but if it gets pretty expensive I will probably pass.
Please advise. I'm meeting him in an hour and really could use some advice.

This is what I am dealing with currently. Only happen when my car is driven for about 1/2 hr. during the hot temperature day (90 deg.). When I stop and restart, it will show these symptoms you described. No issue on cold start or when temp. is cooler.

Did you get this checked at the dealership or any other shop?

I did not take it into the shop yet. I have a 2010 A4 with 137K miles. I think it's coolant related. So I will get the thermostat, water pump and coolant temp. sensor replace soon with the coolant flush.
