Hi, sorry to hear about the trouble. This behavior is usually a sign that you're using one of those "v2.1" ELM327 devices that seem to be flooding the market nowadays. They're fake and they don't work with Carista. They may work with other apps that only use OBD2 functionality, but Carista uses VAG-specific functionality as well, and those devices don't support it (even though the ELM327 v1.4 standard requires support for the stuff that Carista uses). These devices claim to be v2.1, but they don't even support v1.4 specs.

But to confirm that that's the case, please connect to your car and when the app gets stuck with the spinner on the screen (or shows an error message), use the "Report a problem" button from the slide-out menu on the left to send a technical report through the app. Then we'll be able to see whether the thing I'm talking about above was indeed the cause of the issue.

Note that our links to Amazon link to items, not specific sellers. Different sellers for the same "item" on Amazon may actually be selling stuff made by different manufacturers, and altogether working differently. So one seller may be selling a v1.4 or 1.5 device that works fine and another seller of the SAME ITEM on Amazon may ship you a fake v2.1 device. We have no way of controlling that, so our recommendation is that you look at reviews for specific sellers, not just for the items.

If you're in the US, the BAFX device that we link to seems to get consistently good feedback from our users. It's bulkier, but it seems to work more reliably.

Where can I find the link to the BAFX device? Can you post the link here, please?

if i remember correctly this sounds like the first one that i had. I think mine did the same thing, turns out it was bad the replacement work perfectly.

Try another obd2 app to see if it works ok with that app.

How about a setting to turn off the annoying gear shift indicator and associated "economy" tips? Forever?

OK, I have 2 smart keys like that. But what is this setting talking about? Momentarily pressing the lock/unlock sensor area on the door handle (with smart key in your pocket)? Because there are already remote-specific functions (by long pressing the key fob button)? Or is one talking about the non-smart key (no comfort access) and this one is talking about smart keys only?

If you have coded via Vag-Com, you can close or open the windows via the fob. Can also have the sunroof tilt up or close via the fob as well.

Are there any new features coming to the Audi mods soon?

It'd be pretty cool if I could reset the "service soon" thing on the drivers display.
