I work for an Audi dealership and have so for over 10 years. Here are the facts:

1st - we will see mule cars popping up on the internet with spy photos
2nd - we will see a press release with the actual car
3rd - it will be released an one of the bigger car shows
4th - it will be released in Europe
5th - it will be released in the USA

Based on the above comparing it to the 2016 Q7 which is in the same boat (all new).

Official press release - 12/12/14
Detroit auto show - 2/19/15
Released in Europe - recently
Available in the USA - last I heard Jan. 2016, perhaps Dec. 2015.

So, based on the above you're looking at about a year from the official press release to driving one on the streets of good 'ol America.

Audi has not done a press release on the B9 A4. If we saw a press release now then best case would be April/May 2016.

According to 2016 Audi A4 Spy Shots we will see the B9 A4 at the Frankfurt auto show in September. Again, if you base that off the Q7 time table we should see the B9 A4 in around July of 2016 as a 2017 model year. This actually fits some of the chit chat I've been able to muster from a few of the Audi trainers.

Just my two cents and a decade of Audi experience to settle a few arguments.

Oh, and by the way when you call the Audi customer hotline they've been known to be wrong or misunderstood the question :-)

You are most likely correct, however, when you are already a year late and a particular model is your strongest selling car in this country (USA) and Mercedes-Benz has a compelling new C Class, even Audi would not be stupid to delay it for an additional year meaning it would be delayed for 2 years from 2014.

My sources indicated which was confirmed by the Audi corporate in Germany, the B9 Audi A4 will be introduced to the world during the summer via online but not physically (probably to pre order) then officially introduced in September during the Frankfurt Motor Show.

The 2 years delay, the month to month decline in A4 from their Quarterly earnings so far and month to month sales this year (The A3 is USA's best selling Audi and I know the all new A6/S6/S7 2016s will follow) and the possibility of people choosing the new C class from Mercedes-Benz should dictate Audi to change its strategy this time around.

The 2016 Q7's sales in the USA is relatively minor, the A4s are relatively majour.
I do not know if Audi will go this route, but logic dictate that they should.

I agree. The more I think about it the more I'm convinced its curtains for 6MT as an option in the S4 B9. How can that center consol possibly work with a man car? The MMI is obviously designed to have your wrist resting on the shifter like the 2016 Q7....

After falling in love with the 2015 S4 6MT late last year I held off based on all the B9 expectations. Then in Jan this year at an auto show I sat in all the other models to get a sense of where the B9 interior might head. Hated them all and placed my order for the S4 a week later - turns up late this month, and I don't care if its 220lb heavier. These shots tell me I made the right decision.

IMO the new exterior and interior designs are absolutely horrid, how disappointing (so much so that I hope the shots are an April Fools joke).
