Default Will watch the tips

OK here is a picture of the tips with 580 miles on them. This is from my kids new 2015 A4 . So now we'll see how they look as we get miles on the car. This will be an indication of oil usage.

Congratulations on your kids new ride. What are you watching for on the tips? Color change? Blackening and carbon build up?

Black is the culprit to look for. That will indicate not carbon but either rich fuel or oil mist. Here is an example of my Jag exhaust tips with 14,000 miles on it. This to me is what they should all look like for a normal running engine.

Gotcha. Hopefully Audi did address the oil consumption issue with the latest generation B8's. Mine only has 2800 miles since April and the tips are relatively clean. I do believe Audi's naturally run rich from the factory as they seem to respond well to tuning once leaned out a bit.

What model Jag do you own? I seriously considered trading the M3 in for an F-type, but decided to wait and possibly pull the trigger on a Cayman GT4 when the price gouging is over.

Get ready to clean those tips. I guarantee you that Audi will burn some oil. Audi as car company is notorious for oil hungry engines.

XKR convertible , Supercharged with only 510HP. It doesn't need a tune but if you do it will run up to over 600hp with about 550 lb. ft. of torque.

They'll still get dirty. My partner has an '14 Q5 with no oil consumption, tips still get dirty. I have an A4 that developed oil consumption, and got the stage 2 fix. It's been 2400 miles since I got the new pistons and rings, and the oil level hasn't dropped a bit in the MMI gauge, but my tips still get dirty. Not as fast as before, but they get dirty.

WE GET IT

Look man, Audi's burn oil and have sooty tailpipes. Maybe their engineering is compromised, afterall this is the company who's big sister just got Dieselgated. It's just the way this car is right now. Maybe the B9 will be better.
