Default Window Tint

I'm taking my 2014 A4 to get the windows tinted some, mainly to keep the interior temp cool and to protect the leather. I have never had my windows tinted before. Any recommendations on which kind of tint to get? Also, they are telling me that it costs extra to tint the front windshield. Do most people get that tinted? I'm concerned that if I do so and I get a chip in the glass then I will have to replace the windshield & tint instead of repairing the chip. Just looking for some input. Thanks in advance.

I like 3M's Crystalline tint. It gives greater heat rejection without the darkness. I've done my 99A4 and A8 with it so far. I will be doing the Avant shortly.
As far as the windshield goes, check to see if it's legal in your state. Windshields usually filter UV but don't offer heat rejection. I just use a sun shield when parked, but wouldn't mind a 90% (almost clear) tint for heat rejection. It's not legal in KY though.
**I work for 3M, but am not associated with sales of the product. I'm just a consumer.

The 3M product mentioned above is a high quality film. I personally chose Huper Optik Ceramic film because of local availability and installer reputation. After having it on 4 different cars noW I can vouch for the optical clarity and color spectrum and heat rejection. Do not tint your front windshield. Just park strategically (sun behind or to the sides of the car).

3M and Huper Optik are great films! You may also want to checkout Formula One Pinnacle. Forget tinting the windshield and get a Covercraft UVS1000 Sunscreen.

I have the Formula One Pinnacle 30 on the windows and their Air 80 product on my windshield and sunroof. I am very happy with the look and the functionality. It definitely keeps the interior cooler.

Would you mind posting some photos? I'd like to see what the Pinnacle 30 looks like with the Air 80? Any distortion on the windsheild?
