Default On board computer: gas mileage indicators

Just got the car so I have not yet filled the tank, but...there are two gas mileage indicators. 1. Short term mileage. I assume this is based on the mileage every time you start the car. I see you can manually reset this indicator. 2. Long term mileage. Is this the total gas mileage for the current gas fillup? Or, total lifetime gas mileage? See you can also manually reset this indicator. But, does this automatically reset everytime you fill the gas tank?

The manual is unclear what each of these represents (or I missed it).

I just want to see displayed in the center dash screen what my mileage is on the current tank. Is this possible?

Thanks for your help.

Short term mileage resets itself... after a little while of the car sitting. I don't know how long, but if you just stop somewhere for 10 minutes, stop the engine, and then keep driving again, it won't have reset itself.

Long term mileage requires a manual reset and will show you your mileage since the manual reset. It does not automatically reset like the short term mileage.

It used to be 2 hours before the short term would reset.

How do you do a manual reset on the long term mileage?

In the B8 cars, you go into the MMI and then to Instruments. From there you can zero out Computer 1 or Computer 2. Should be similar on your car, Reecard.

Reading the manual would confirm this.

In the VC, even for the long term mileage, you just have to hold the left scroll button to reset it, just like how it is for the short term memory.
