Button on side of driver door

Button on side of driver door

I went on a test drive today and saw that there was a button on the driver side door that had an icon of a car with some radio waves. Does anyone know what that is for?

Disables the factory alarm motion sensor. In case you leave a dog / person / etc. in the car with the doors locked.

So if I don't press it and someone is inside after I lock the doors, the alarm will sound? And now that you mention it, the a4 comes with an alarm?

Since I've never even pushed that button I can only assume that's what happens (although I never leave anybody in the car with the doors locked).
In the US the Premium Plus & the Prestige get "immobilizer with alarm". The Premium only gets the "immobilizer" unless you order the Convenience Package which, among other things, adds "alarm + tow-away protection.
