Default How to ....google play music

just can't make it happen to play Gmusic through the android auto...
(the mp3's runs well from SD)

1. my LG G3 phone is bluetooth connected to the A4 MMI and working correct, can make and receive calls;

2. when I connect the phone to the car with a USB (and I have couple of these cables in my drawers fully compatible, no need to spend big bucks for OEM audi),

the google maps is working nice with traffic info,
go google is working, taking me to places,
can receive and send phone calls,
I can see the google play music button, I can click on it, can brows the radio stations (google play), but silence = no sound is coming out
(in my phone alone I can listen the google playing the music, just install it recently only for reason I can't stand sirius music and the canadian FM radio stations are beyond boring).

but I don't know what and how to setup either in the phone or in the MMI to get the Gmusic play through android auto speakers????

it must be something simple but I don't see it...

So
(i) your phone is connected via USB,
(ii) Android Auto is loaded on the phone;
(iii) You select the Android Auto option in the MMI;
(iv) Android Auto appears on your MMI screen;
(v) You select the headphone icon at the bottom of the Android Auto screen;
(vi) You select Google Play;
(vii) You select a song to play

and no sound comes out? Do you see a progress bar as the song is playing? Did you check to make sure your sound is not muted?

correct,

the Google Play can and will play my mp3's from the phone micro SD, I have tested this because removed the SD from the MMI...
so yes, there is a sound coming out from MMI+google play

but for radio only a message "couldn't prepare radio, please try again"

and btw I am at home and just listening the radio "jazz for working" from my cellphone all time I am writing this post

I'm sure you checked and I'm not sure if it affects Android Auto the same way but what's the media volume on the phone itself? I do this all the time with streaming over bluetooth, the car volume is up but nothing is playing and it turns out the phone is muted.

(the BT sound level is fine because the google music can play my downloaded mp3's, but I have the same on SD card what I prefer to listen instead BT)

I see for some reason can't start any radio station (google play),
so tonight I subscribed (on the same G3 phone) to couple google radio stations and put them in favorites (maybe this could help?)
and I will have a 30 minutes morning commute to test again...

allowing google play on mobile data did the trick
somewhere back in time I have restricted many apps to wifi only but in developer mode level so not visible in settings....

so, got this working and so far I am impressed with the sound quality over my random mp3 downloads to SD (mostly from youtube), it seem to me google made a nice algorithm compression on these, way better to sirius crap what I have refused to use at all costs.

I can see only the radio channels what I have predefined (last nite in in my phone favorites) , I don't see any option to brows further in car MMI...
any trick with that?
the free google music play account will take me couple more weeks, in mean time you can tell me what else is worth considering?
thanks

Try this. Press down on the volume **** to mute then wait two seconds then press down on it again. You should hear the music from Google Play after doing this.
