MMI Display Concerns? (2017 A4)
Does anyone have concerns about the durability of the MMI display sitting on the dash? Somehow seems more vulnerable in that location to accidental damage. Also, while I presume the Audi engineers would have figured it out, the dark color backside is directly exposed to the sun (hot!). Is it too cynical to think that the location of the MMI on top of the dash may be the result of the design folks winning out over the engineers?

The MMI screen back is made of Magnesium.
Quoted from the interweb: "Not only is magnesium the best metal with the strength to weight ratio, but it is also 100 times better than plastic for heat dissipation."

Lol. The windshield has a layer of plastic, by law. That piece of plastic absorbs over 99% of UV rays, which is the only thing that would really cause damage. Nothing to worry about.
