Production delay?
I ordered a premium plus and the order was submitted on June 14. The dealer is telling me today that there is a production delay for A4's and all orders got pushed back a couple of months. Anyone else hear this?

Once in a while, production delays may be caused by a parts shortage. It could be due to summer vacation in Europe as DennisMitchell mentioned above. Also, factory re-tooling. The German order books just opened for the S4 Sedan and Avant models, including the A5/S5 models. So, lots of changes going on in the production line at the moment.

Thanks guys. Apparently he has an identical vehicle with the 19 rather than the 18 inch wheels. I am getting the sport package. I was happy with the ride on the 18 inch and I'm not sure what I would be losing in ride quality with the 19 inch. Any input would be appreciated.

The feel and ride quality of a car with 18`and 19`wheels will be very similar with very little noticeable difference. I am surprised by the ride quality of my S5`s 19-inch wheels. I thought they would feel harsher than the 17-inch wheels in my VW GTI but that was not the case. If you are dissatisfied with the 19`Audi rims and want to go for 18 inchers, post an ad and someone will gladly trade their 18-inch wheels for 19-inch wheels.

A dealer may say that production schedules are delayed and pushed back 'x' months just to buy some time. It may have something to do with dealer allocations. Dealer delivery times vary depending whether the particular dealer has immediate order allocations or not. If the dealer has no allocation for a particular model, it could take a month or two before an order goes into production. Or, the dealer chose not to give up an allocation for a custom order, i.e. the custom order has to wait longer. This might be a tactic to force the customer to just buy from existing inventory which the dealer is desperate to move and sell.

I suspect shenanigans since they have a virtually identical car (except for wheels) coming in next month. But being anxious and kinda liking the 19" wheels I may accept their offer of the same car with upgraded wheels at the same price.
