Set up Homelink Garage Opener; Only works from extremely close (inside garage)
So today I set up the homelink garage opener for a craftsman.
While I'm in the garage, it works very well. but as soon as I get some distance, like... even if I'm parked RIGHT in front of the garage, it no longer works. The remote works... so I know the signal receiver is working fine.
Am I missing something?

I have a quite a bit of range on mine, and I have an ancient 20+ year old Craftsman garage door opener. In fact I was surprised I could link it with the Audi system at all.
I just used the standard aim the remote at the the mirror link system in the MMI.

How new is your opener? There's an updated rolling code security mechanism in place now and you may need and extra module in order to get Homelink to work. That's what I'm needing for the door opener that I have just replaced.

Can you provide a bit more details on what you're talking about please? Links?
Thanks

Think it's only for openers within the last 4 years or so. No problems with an opener I installed about 5-6 years ago, just with my brand new one for the other garage door. Seems a yellow antenna wire on the opener is a good indicator that a compatibility bridge is needed for Homelink operation.

Mine works the same way. Actually, on my previous Audis, they were temperature dependent. If it was cold out it worked down the block, when it was hot out it wouldn't work sitting in front of the door. I have to just use the actual remote now. If I'm hitting a button once, it doesn't matter to me.

i just got my 2019 s5. it would not learn the code to my apartments garage. I do not have free access to the opener for that reason.
i was going to pull the fuses then remembered im still an idiot and do not have a fuse puller.
i read on the forum that i should try holding the remote behind the back wheels. I tried it underneath the rear bumper on the drivers side and it paired immediately.
no fuse pulled. for whatever its worth.

Mine behaves the same way. I have the Homelink programmed on my Subaru Outback, and it works well from even a half a block away. But the Audi Homelink is very inconsistent, and usually I have to be almost in the driveway before it works. I just assumed it was not as powerful a signal as on the Subaru.
