So I would like to hear any intelligence on which TDI / quattro combination will be available on the new A4.

Here is the engine / transmission (quattro) list from the Audi.de site: A4 Limousine > Audi Deutschland

If the 3.0 TDI of the A6/A7/Q5 was available that would be outstanding.

The TDI engine offered in the U.S. will be a 2.0 TDI with 190-hp and 236 lb-ft torque. It sounds like TDI will be offered with quattro.

What bothers me is that the Audi.de site shows the only TDI engine with quattro is the 3.0 TDI engine. I would hate to see that the US spec TDI is FWD only. The A3 only came with a FWD TDI.

I fear that Audi will be slowly pushing "ultra" models on us. Ultra meaning FWD for higher gas mileage so the fleet average MPG will rise to meet the CAFE fuel economy targets.

Audi usually does that with new models, if you want a quattro you have to spring for the big engines. Give it a few weeks/months and the rest will follow. It's said that the new Audi will be offered in like 22 different variations of engines, gearboxes and quattro/fwd.

I'm sure the 190TDI quattro S tronic will be their big seller.

EDIT: Scratch that first part, I just started to build another one on audi.se's configurator and the 190TDI quattro is already up for sale, atleast here in Sweden.
