Default Who riding 19" wheels in New England area?

I'm deciding how durable the upgraded 19" wheels are on Connecticut roads? Anyone popping tires and bending these rims with any frequency?

We have a 2017 A4. 18". We bought the tire and wheel insurance cause my wife has trouble avoiding NE potholes. Sure enough, last week with 900 miles on the car, she kissed the curb and scraped up the wheel. Factory 5 spoke wheels for the P+ are $1100 ea. Get some 18"s for the winter or get the insurance.

im on the 19s and driving on Long Island. Was not impressed by these tires in slush/snow but the rims and tires have survived some potholes just fine.

They are summer tires, so poor cold weather performance is expected.

Did they replace the wheel or polish out the scrape?

I live in Mass., and wouldn't even think about driving on 19" rims. I have had 18' rims on all of my A4s, and bent a total of four rims between them on potholes.

I've also done test drives on A4s with 19" rims, and felt every little bump in the road. I figured that within a year, my car would have developed many rattles.

I'm also on Long Island and have the 19 inch tires. They ran fine in the little snow we have had. However, I already had one flat tire which I had to replace. Not sure of the cause but it couldn't be patched. It also took a few days for Mavis Tire to get the exact tire in since they said it is quite rare.

I called a few of the local Audi dealers and only one had the tire in stock but wanted $400 for the tire/install. I said no thanks.

Make sure you read your policy. When reviewing all of the "add on" things they try to sell you upon closing the deal, I asked specifically whether curb rash or curb scratches were covered in the expensive rim insurance they were promoting. He stated that it was not covered. Just structural damage like a bent rim or failure. Might be a whole different policy, but I would check it out.

If I remember correctly, when my dealership was trying to sell me wheel damage insurance, I read the fine print and it included several cases where they would not pay for damage, including "construction sites." There were more things listed, but I can't remember them.

When I looked at my salesman in disbelief, he shook his head and said, "don't worrry; we'll take care of it." Needless to say, I declined to buy the insurance.
