2004 Audi A4 3.0L Convertible Top
Hi Folks,
I have been having a problem with soft top it will not open and a recent scan of the system reviled the following error code. "Switch Position, Sporadic 008 Implausible Signal" in addition when I activate the roof switch I also receive the following message on my dashboard display "Close Trunk Lid" despite the fact that the trunk lid is closed.
If any of you good folks can advise me on how to correct this problem I will be extremely grateful. Note all comments, suggestions and advice will be greatly appreciated.

Check your switch on the side of the roof (passenger)
to see if it fell out of place.
Make sure the roof pocket is released down 100%.
Check the trunk lock switch, make sure the wires are not out of place which cause the "trunk open".
Check my signature for all the stuff I did with my 04 cabriolet 3.0 which my sister is driving now.
The position sensor is the one you need to check to open and close the top. I'm always in the A8 D3 forum.
Cheers,
Louis

Volcar, follow Louis's instructions in his links to dogmonkey - the key is that the top MUST see a complete sequence to get an all clear. I was having this issue today after having the car for a week with no problems, and Louis's instructions were spot on. You'll need to use the special wrench/key hidden with the fuses to lock the tonneau and the header bar to get the top back in to "closed" position. Worked for me!
Louis, you rock!
