Question on Headlight Bulb Replacement
Hi Everyone!
I have a 2003 A4 Cabriolet 3.0. This is my first time fixing up my car myself so hope you guys can be patient with me.
About 2 months ago, my auto-leveling error came on, my driver side low beam bulb failed, and one tail light bulb failed. Brought it to a shop and they replaced it. All the warnings went away.
A week later, I brought my car in for an oil change, and then the auto-leveling error came on again. They said the "error was intermittent" so they recommended not changing it yet.
However, they did not tell me that they replaced my HID bulb with a non-xenon bulb. The replacement clearly looks orange and is different from the passenger side. This is very disappointing because they are supposed to be Audi/VW specialists charging very high labor rates.
Now that I have some time, I would like to fix the auto-leveling error and possibly "correct" my head lights. I found some guides on possibly fixing the auto-leveling error with VAGCOM and I'm going to use them.
My question is: can I simply replace the non-xenon bulb with a new HID bulb? I read somewhere that the HID bulbs need different ballasts, etc. But since I already had a HID to begin with, it should be safe to just replace the bulb, right?
Thanks!

Please ignore my original post.
I am trying to fix the auto-leveling error. My headlights are currently tilted down permanently. I read in a one of the threads that I might have to manually adjust the headlights using a screw. Would anyone know how exactly I am to do this? Do I have to open up the lights?
Thanks.
