'14 TDI Prestige - popped a P246E code - EGT sensor
... and I think that this... is... not... right...:
This is with the Engine off and partially cooled, mind you.

Did you get an engine warning light? Was it flashing? If no to either, it's prob fine to drive. Clear the fault code and see if it returns after driving awhile. It might have been a one time transient occurrence. The myraid of sensors in the car sometimes get too cautious. I get occasional fault codes that don't repeat once cleared. I don't worry about those any more than when it happens to my computer.

No flashing - the light was solid on and no other lights came on. I've cleared the code last night but it came right back after about 8 miles of driving. Other than that - car drives fine...

The EGT sensor monitors the exhaust temp to keep the engine from running rich or lean which can cause issues, some possibly very unpleasant. Prob not a good idea to drive it other than to service to get the sensor replaced. If the light starts flashing, turn off the engine right away and call Audi Roadside Assistance for a flatbed.
