Default 2013 Premium Plus Climate Control effectiveness

The climate control on my 2013 Premium Plus is the one feature which does not function nearly as well as my previous five Audi's. The temperature control is only has two degree increments and I often find myself adjusting temperature up or down to modulate a comfortable temperature.
I still have my 2000 2.7T and after 150000 miles in fifteen years I never touch the temperature control, summer or winter. Never.
Is this normal?
Other than this issue I love the car.

Long time Audi owners, I would appreciate your experience with the Premium Plus climate control.
I will bring the issue up at the next service.

I don't think my 2012 holds the temp as well as my previous '99 A6.

Also, my previous car tended to keep the same temp (assuming it's cold outside) with the A/C on or off. Not so with the 2012. Big difference in the cabin whether the A/C is engaged or not, even on cloudy/colder days when it would not have to compensate for heat gain through the windows.

if you need heat, turn the A/C off or it won't do the right thing.

James517, It seems that you have the same problem.

SamLV, With climate control the AC is always engaged and the system determines the mix for a set temperature at any ambient temperature while also dehumidfying when necessary. We shouldn't have to turn AC off.

Great car but poor climate control system.

Great car but poor climate control system.
So, when I turn it off it heats well. On, it stinks. And that's just the design flaw?

I believe you; but I find it amazing.

I'll try flipping the fan up high next time it is 20F and I want it warm... see what happens if A/C is still on.

I don't want to make a federal case out of this. At most, it's a minor annoyance.

No question: the system is more stable if you just use [Auto] and select a temp (as many have suggested).

Yet, in the Pacific Northwest, we have a Lot of cool, cloudy days. I prefer to turn off the A/C when I know the outside temp is lower than what I want in the cabin. I also prefer to fiddle with the controls a bit to be comfortable under the [possibly misguided] belief that I'm running the car as efficiently as I can, rather than giving any mpg up to unnecessary A/C operations. MCMC (my car my choice).

If I want defogging, better stability (e.g., I'm transporting guests), etc., -- I'll turn on [Auto], set a temp and forget it. No big deal.

Yet -- it is mildly interesting that the cabin temp on the same cool, cloudy day seems about the same if I set the temp at 64 degrees with no A/C and 70 degrees with A/C.

My best guesses have been that:
1. It's a sampling issue created by where the sensor is located, or
2. The A/C is drying the air, dry air seems cooler, so you have to dial in some heat to compensate for how it feels.

Don't know.....nor will I lay awake nights consumed by the enormity of it all.

However, I think the OP was about the accuracy of the control and how precisely the temp can be set. I don't think that I have noticed a particularly large increase/decrease for each detent in the temp control ****. Yet, the Prem+ controls do seem an annoying place to try to cut costs.
