I have 19x9.5 Niche from 19x8 oem on my 2012.
I was unsure of 19" and 9.5 do I go with 20s but I do love the size.
I used the same stock size tire 255/40 and it is perfect. Gave a little more stretch and it is about a .2" drop on the car. So the rim fits the wheel well nice, no more gap everyone thinks it is dropped with aftermarket 20s.
and there is no ride/noise impact either

got it, now his post makes more sense.
EDIT: actually jjcuff1's tire size is 255/40 NOT 245/40
do you always go with the recommended tire size from the wheel manufacturer? it makes sense, because they should know the tire size that works best with their wheels?

No, you go with the recommended tire size per the auto manufacturer, but you have a bit of latitude with the tire width as long as the overall tire diameter is within 1-2% of the OEM tire diameter. Every tire size has a wheel width range which is acceptable and you can choose the wheel width within that range. But here's the good part. If TR says that a wheel will fit your car, it will, as they test fit the wheels.

Can anyone let me know if I should go with 19x8.5 or 19x9.5 wheels?
What would the lookbe like between those two sizes on the A6?
Looking to place order today.
Thanks

According to the site below, the standard rim size for 255/40/19 tires is 19 x 9.5. Is taht accurate?

Hi all, I am like to get some 19" wheels for my 2016 A6 3.0T Premium Plus and would really love some suggestions.
What brands should I look at for quality without putting a hole in my wallet? VMR, Hartmann, Avant Garde, BBS, TSW, etc.?
What style, finish, material should I look for?
What size should I look for? 19x8 or 19x8.5, etc.
I really prefer a 19" set that is a perfect fit for my 2016 A6.
As for tires, I am all set on either the DWS06 Or Michelin AS3.
I will use my stock 18" wheels with winter tires for the snowy season.
Thanks much!

I emailed the manufacturer before buying to confirm best fit - here were the 3 answers
1. The 19x8.5" M310 in 5x112 with an offset of ET35 will work on your A6 with no issues.
2. It is hub centric to your A6 with a center bore of 66.6mm.
3. The M310 requires a conical seat lug bolt. 14x1.5mm w/ 28mm shank.
