2016 A6 drivers, are you seeing these mpgs?

Flat and warm is all I do in Florida, and I regularly see 33 mpg on the highway at 70 mph.
I also agree with the wind having a big effect at highway speeds. Driving into a 20 mph headwind at 70 mph is like driving at an 'apparent speed' of 90 mph. The mileage takes a hit due to the wind resistance over an apparent speed of around 65 mph. In my experience, it drops to around 28-30 mpg or 10-15%. On the other hand, if there's a 10 mph tailwind, I can drive at 80 mph and still get 33 mpg.

I had cruise control set at 77 yesterday, 100 octane fuel, 1900 RPM, 30.2MPG. I don't know how accurate the MPG display is, but I found that pretty impressive for a 2 ton automobile.

I just took a long trip with the 2016 A6 Prestige. About 1700 miles using mainly interstates and driving 7 mph over the posted speed. There were some stop and go delays, but I avoided most. Trolling around town for 5 days at the destination is included. Overall mileage using premium gas was 35.2 mpg. Adaptive Cruise Control was used almost everywhere, even in local traffic. Lowest price for gas was $1.98 in Roanoke at a Wal-Mart for premium. This is very good mileage for a 4200 lb car with a 333 hp engine. My wife and I took turns driving, and while she has never used cruise with her BMW, she got into the groove and used it almost all of the time. She has never been happier with a car than this A6. Thanks to Matt Panzarella at Audi Wynnewood for a great European Delivery experience.

I attribute the great mileage in large part to the fantastic ZF 8 speed in my /15 3.0T. Terrific highway car but I do find if I'm not using cruise control the speed creeps up on me and I'm going faster than I intend. Efficient engine and aerodynamics as well I suspect. The good gas mileage is a bonus in an otherwise excellent car. And for what it is worth, today 93 Octane at Costco here in Bloomfield Hills, MI is $1.85.
Best,
Jeff

MPG in 2013 A6 Prestige with Stasis ECU
Hi guys figured Id post since my car was upgraded with the Stasis ECU upgrade when I got it new....32k miles ago. Always Run Premium, always in Dynamic, occasional Sport mode and redlining with paddle shifters but a solid mix 50/50 highway and city. I'm actually impressed I'm getting about 25.7 mpg lifetime since I got the car. I'm sure the 2.0t and other models (S6 excluded) will be getting better MPG's.

Just a note about the "Short term" mpg display in the DIS. Unlike the manually reset "Long Term" display, the Short term resets the mpg readout each time the car has been off for about 2 hours.
Every Audi I've owned has had an optimistic mpg comouter readout. Tire circumference also plays a role in the accuracy. As tire tread wears down, the computer mpg will show an increase. As Bob mentioned, the only way to accurately measure fuel consumption is to log the miles driven and gallons purchased at each fill up over an extended peruid of time. Their are several good apps that calculate the mpg for you. I've used Vehical for years.
(My 2013 A6 3.0T has averaged an actual 22.6 mpg over three and a half years and 39000 miles. Roughly 60% suburban-rural/40% highway).
For those with access to a VAG-Com you can make an adjustment to the mpg computer readout to compensate for mpg variances (especially helpful when mounting new tires):
Adhust Consumption Display in DIS program
[17 - Instruments] [Adaptation - 10]
Look about 20 items down on the drop-down list for "Correct Consumption" and select it
Change 100 to xxx (new number up or down)
Example - if your DIS is consistently off by 7% to your actual calculated mpg:
You RAISE the number to the percentage if DIS is OVER reporting mpg (i.e. 107)
You LOWER the number to the percentage if DIS is UNDER reporting mpg (i.e. 93)
Click on SAVE or "DO IT"
Making this adjustment has resulted in a much closer match of the computer to my actual mpg over time.

I've managed to check my mileage on two tanks recently. I compared indicated mileage (what is displayed on the MMI) to what I calculated using the gas pump and the odometer on the car. For both tanks I used the 'long term' computer display - which I reset when filling up the car.
Tank 1: mpg displayed on MMI was 2.5 mpg higher than what I calculated
Tank 2: mpg displayed on MMI was 1.7 mpg higher than what I calculated
My car had between 1200-2000 miles on it, so maybe the actual mpg will increase as it continues to 'break-in', making it closer to the MMI display. Considering I'm not getting near the rated mileage now, and that the 2nd tank was closer to the MMI than the first, I'm hoping this will be the case. But so far I'm not too impressed with the mpg displayed on the MMI.
