A6 vs A7: why the big $ gap?

My 2014 has hooks, in fact impressive fold down stainless hooks on the four corners of the cargo floor, to wich the cargo net attaches. of course, they are now all coverered up by the well made Weathertech mat for the cargo area.
In all my years with allroads, avants and now an A7, I can testify that I have NEVER used a grocery hook or tie down - guess i like to live dangerously.

All personal preference here. Some like it and some like it cold! I've never driven the A7 but my A6 with the the sports pkg handles fine for my taste. I, personally, would pay the extra $10k for an A6 if it was the other way around. A7's lack of rear headroom and it's appearance is a deal breaker for me. If I want a sporty hatch back, I'll buy the upcoming Z06. Gotta wait for my kids to grow up though

I have an a7 with five seats. I wouldn't have bought it with 4 like the cls though it looks cool. The seating specs between the a6 and a7 were the same except for the rear headroom. Still fine back there though. When I priced the two in my area they two came out really close in price. The a6 can be had with the 2.0 which is why it starts out priced so much better. The a7 also has a few electronic bits from the a8 like the touchpad as I recall. The trunk magically has enough space for the for of us to go away for the weekend without having to take our 8 seat Lexus gx.
Really the big thing is the styling. It is a love it or hate proposition. For me, the q7 is really ugly for instance. I also drove the non sport a7 and had that been the only option, I probably wouldn't have bought the car. Again choices are good.
Oh someone commented on CD. The a6 at .28 and the a7 at .30. You have to understand what a cd is. It is the drag of of the car divided by the drag of the minimum size box that will enclose the car. The a7 may still have a total drag equal, more or less than the a6 since the a7 is lower. IE it is a different box and you can't compare cd. Could also be that the a7 generates more down force which increases CD.

great grocery hooks from Container store
Have a look at these simple grocery hooks. They work great in the A7 (from Container store)

My 2013 A6 2.0 Premium Plus has a touch pad in the center console (to the left of the MMI control (where I can enter the first letter of a contact's name, etc. Is this the touch pad you are referring too? If so,it is in the A6, even the meager (lol) 2.0.
