If the BiTDI was available in the US I would have had a very tough decision on that vs. the S6. I just didn't feel that the A6 3.0T was fast enough. During my test drives it always felt like I had to throttle it a bit more than you should a luxury car.

I think you made a good decision Jason. I love my current car but I've already decided to step up to the S6 next year. I believe it's getting a bump in hp from 420 to 450 along with the mid cycle freshening. If you can swing it I think the S6 is a good value. A prestige A7 is $9k more then the A6 prestige $60k vs. $69k. The jump from the A7 Prestige to the S6 is $6k, $69k vs $75k. I was looking at the A7, but I believe you get a lot more in the S6 for that extra $6k.

And if it is a rolling start the difference is even bigger.
I know diesel engines have incredible pros vs gas engines, and in real life people prefer to have a slightly slower car and getting better mileage, and I respect that, but the numbers do not lie, the gasoline car is faster.
Personally I like the sound of a high rev engine.

Can anyone who has driven both compare the ride comfort between the A6 and S6? The S6 is sportier, but it has an air suspension, which are well known for providing super comfortable rides (like in the A8.) Obviously tire size matters as well, since bigger tires make for better grip but less comfortable rides.

The ones that we were discussing were the Car and Driver ones (2012 3.0t and 2014 TDI which I posted, one as a pdf and one as a link)
Look Guys I know TDI owners love their cars and good for them but we cannot quote specific tests that confirm what we want as a result.
I am sure I can find 5 different tests saying the gas is faster than the diesel and another 5 that say the diesel is faster.
Unless the cars were compared in the same circumstances (same day same temperature same elevation same tires same gas and same fuel in the tank) it is pretty hard to see which one is faster.
I had no idea the Car and Driver test stated the TDI was quicker in the front page of the report, and when you check the notes that is not accurate.
I want to believe Audi test their cars in the exactly same environment, and Audi numbers state the 3.0t is faster (5.3 vs 5.5)
If someone loves their diesel because of mileage it is fine, but it is not faster than the gas.

At least some of that credit goes to the TDI’s Pirelli P Zeros, part of the $1300 Black Optic package (that is itself an add-on to the $1500 Sport package). Through the quarter-mile, the diesel holds the advantage with a 13.9-second elapsed time compared with the gas car’s 14 flat. But the 3.0T’s 101-mph trap speed is 3 mph higher than the TDI’s, showing how the gas car’s wider power band allows it to reel in the diesel once they’re under way.
It's a statistical dead heat.
