A6 vs S6

FWIW I love my 2013 A6 with the 2.0 four.
I like the crisper feel of its lighter front end (the 2.0 is 221 lbs. lighter than the TDi with most if not all of that on the front end; and 144 lb. lighter than the 3.0 gas car). That lighter front end shows when you drive the car; I have driven all three versions mentioned here and the toss-ability of the 2.0 on twisty roads is much better, though ultimate skid pad G-force numbers undoubtedly go to the heavier cars with their bigger, wider tires.
To each their own I guess (my non-cost related choice would be the S6, if I felt it wise to spend the extra bucks lol).

Which test are you referring to?
The ones that we were discussing were the Car and Driver ones (2012 3.0t and 2014 TDI which I posted, one as a pdf and one as a link)
Look Guys I know TDI owners love their cars and good for them but we cannot quote specific tests that confirm what we want as a result.
I am sure I can find 5 different tests saying the gas is faster than the diesel and another 5 that say the diesel is faster.
Unless the cars were compared in the same circumstances (same day same temperature same elevation same tires same gas and same fuel in the tank) it is pretty hard to see which one is faster.
I had no idea the Car and Driver test stated the TDI was quicker in the front page of the report, and when you check the notes that is not accurate.
I want to believe Audi test their cars in the exactly same environment, and Audi numbers state the 3.0t is faster (5.3 vs 5.5)
If someone loves their diesel because of mileage it is fine, but it is not faster than the gas.

I have driven both. Had a TDI demo when my 3.0 was in for service. Real life results - no comparison IMO. The Diesel is sluggish compared to the 3.0T.
Besides the numbers from Audi, you also have the turbo lag factor. But more important to me is the fun, seat of the pants factor. And IMO the supercharged 3.0 has that in spades over the diesel.
As to mileage - even that is questionable based on where one lives. Where I am diesel has historically been .50 cents more a gallon. Today, I noticed coming to work diesel was priced .80 more a gallon. So the diesel is a hell of a lot more expensive to operate in my neck of the woods - and doesn't have the fun factor.
To answer the OPs question though, it depends on what is important to you. For me, fun and performance is so based on that, in order
S6
A6 3.0T
some other vehicle as the TDI does not do it for me
