Default A7 wheels on an A6

Hi all,

I'm going to need to get new tires soon so I'm shopping for wheels + tires as the wheels I have are probably the most unatractive 18" wheels A6 have. I saw an ad on craigslist of a guy that is selling his A7 wheels and I was wondering what you all think. The tires are the OEM conti procontact and these run around $260 on tirerack. The wheels he's selling are the ones on the picture below (mounted on an A6 so I'm assuming there won't be any fitting issues). He said he took them off at 100 miles so basically brand new and he wants $1700. I offered $1500. Is this reasonable? thanks!

It sounds reasonable to me. You can check eBay to see how much sellers are asking.

I have those wheels for my A6. I use them for the track and have my track tires mounted on them. The difference between the stock A6 wheels and the A7 wheels is the wheel width and offset. For the A6 the width is 8.5 inches with an offset of 45mm. The A7 wheel has a width of 9 inches with an offset of 37mm.

Jr's do you notice any difference in comfort ride? are you using them for the track because they're lighter? curious about that.

thanks!

I just needed a second set of wheels for the track and the A7 wheels where cheaper than my original wheels. Since they are wider I am able to run a wider tire than I can on my OEM wheels. No noticeable difference in ride between the 2 sets of wheels/tires.

I'm looking for a set of 4 20" for my 2013 A-6. I live on the east coast, so depending on price I may be willing to spring for shipping. Let me know if you have 4 in decent shape and what's the price?

Hi All,

another question regarding A7 wheels on a A6. I'm about to pull the trigger but I called Audi to verify this would work and they are trying to talk me out of it. They say the wheels won't fit and that they will likely rub. I checked the tire sizes on the stock A6 20" wheels and those are 255/35R20. The ones that come with the A7 wheels are 265/35R20. Would the additional 10 mm of tire width cause any fitment issues? I checked and I think there's definitely space but wanted to check with you guys. Especially with those of you that have installed A7 wheels on a A6.

thanks!

You will probably need spacers to keep from rubbing.

Hey there,
I tried the exact thing you are saying. I thought I outwitted Audi. By putting 265/35R20 on my Allroad on the rear they were fine but on the front wheels I experienced rubbing as I steered to get into parking. I had to take them off for a week as I got some offset rims. Now they are perfect. The main problem is your front wheels getting limitted to steer
.
Looking at the alteration values;
That's 10mm laterally and only 3.5mm vertically.

Spacers is not the way to go. It'll affect the cars stability but Offset rims have the stability aspect factored into the offset.
All the best.
