Default Another Key Fob Issue!!!

For days now, one of the key fobs has been showing signs of a low battery. Yesterday, i get in the car(it was sitting unlocked in our garage), and put the fob by the gear shift boot, where I always put it, and the car wouldn't start. So, right away, I place the fob by the sensor area on the dash, and car starts cranking, starts, sputters, and dies. Right away, I get a "Transmission Fault" message in the instrument panel, along with the symbol for a transmission problem (its two red colored gears, one big and one small in ratio). After that, the car would just crank, but not start.

I right away, turn the car off, lock the car with my other good key, unlock it with the same good key, and it starts right away! Transmission fault gone!

Is that weird or what?????!!!????

I would bet the error went away because you started the car a second time and not because you used the other key fob.

I would get my VAG-COM and have a gander at what error codes are stored in the ECU. That does not sound like a key fob problem.

Sputtering and cranking aren't related to a key fob, or function of a key fob.

My dealer tells me that Audi is having problems with key fob batteries - they are hit and miss.
He put new batteries in our fobs before our car was delivered, and then again a week later.
No problems since, been about 2 months and all is well.

Switch out the battery again would be my suggestion to try to solve fob problems

I just had my key fob battery replaced (got the low battery warning) but that was 2 years into it and no issues before and after.
