Audi Connect on AT&T (2015 A6)...it works!
#11
Thanks for the reply. I did give the AT&T rep the IMEI number from my car, I found it on one of the sub-menus under telephone and he confirmed it was valid. It came back as "Harman MMI" according to the rep FWIW. I'm going to reset the MMI to see if that helps.

Would be interested to know if anyone with a 2013 A6 has done this successfully?
(Meaning the 3G speeds. I have always been able to pop out the sim from my android and get 2G in the NAV).
Thanks!

Generally, we're not going to get 3G speeds from AT&T in the 2012 and 2013 A6. The cellular radio doesn't support the 3G (UMTS/HSPA) bands used by AT&T, while the cellular radio in the 2014 and 2015 A6 does support those bands. AT&T generally has 3G on the 850/1900 bands, while T-Mobile is on the 1700/1900 bands, but T-Mobile didn't have a lot of markets on the 1900 band. Since the cellular radio hardware was designed for compatibility with T-Mobile, it lacks compatibility with the 850 3G band that AT&T uses most. There's a possibility you could get 3G service in those areas where AT&T has 3G on the 1900 (PCS) band, but the vast majority of the time, you'll be looking at 2G (GSM) service.

following correctly?
1. go to ATT store, purchase a sim, add to family plan (if you have it)
2. Give ATT rep my IMEI number from the car.
3. swap t-mo SIM for ATT SIM
4. boom - good to go????

thanks to all posters I got it to work as follows (I tried the method described in this thread but no joy...store rep stated that they could not provide any assistance (not even just larger SIM SIM and not even if I was adding to shared data plan) if related to car that it could only be handled by a dealer) I used this method to get ti work in 2012 Audi A6 Premium Plus
remove SIM from iPad 4 (3G enabled)
purchase SIM holder from t-mobile to insert small SIM to be able to use in SIM slot in vehicle
insert the SIM card in SIM slot in car
called 611 AT&T and gave my IMEI number from car to rep
go to connection settings and in APN typed "broadband" left username and password blank by entering a space/OK for each
wait a couple of minutes and able to use the AT&T network at 2g speed (incl. Audi connect features, closest gas, Google earth map, etc.) - not exactly sure why no 3G since that was what I had when the same SIM card was in the iPad but...
(APN "phone" did not work nor did - APN: wap.cingular
