The license plate frame. It was on the 750Li I picked up. Theres a wire running from it through the front grille, and a a similar wire, though no frame, running through the back. All I can think of is that it may be a radar or laser jammer, but there are no controls or anything in the car. Very strange.

Need to find out because I'm gonna be taking this car down to VA in 2.5 weeks, and detector and jammers and everything else is illegal down there. If nobody knows I'll have to take it to a shop and have the wiring traced. Rather not since I bought this car cheap to fix up and flip (and extra money reduces the income), but if I must, so be it.

Whatever it is, its messing with the front center parking sensor. The sensor sees something all the time, even if theres nothing there.

Wondering if this is related. Its in the center console and theres nothing in the manual or parts ETK that looks anything like it.

You can get a cheap tester gun off Ebay and shoot it at it and see if it sets off alarms. If alarms do go off, press the button and see what happens.

I didn't even think of that. I have 2 cops living downstairs. I'm sure one of them can get his hands on a radar or lidar gun to test with.

Let us now. I think its more likely to be a radar detector.

If its a detector its not hooked up. I've driven past cops sitting on the side of the highway shooting traffic and nothing has made a peep. The thing in the console doesn't seem to be a button either. It looks like its just an LED.
