Default Audi MMI Radio Volume Control Issue

New to the forums and I appreciate any help anyone can provide.

Leased a new 2016 Audi A6 Premium Plus a week and a half ago. When I listen to terrestrial or satellite radio, the volume control range is very narrow. For example, I can only reach level 4 or 5 before the music is so loud that it is unbearable.

In comparison, when listening to juke box, streaming radio or iPhone, volume control goes from soft (volume range 1 - 5) to medium soundness (range 6-10) to louder (range 11-15) to very loud (16-20). This is similar to behavior in my wife's 2016 Audi Q5.

This almost makes the radio unusable, as there are two options:
1. Volume so low that it is hard to hear the broadcast
2. Volume so loud that you cannot enjoy the broadcast

Any others experiencing this? Any known fixes?

Go into the MMI settings and make sure that each component is set to the same volume setting.

I checked that and no effect. Volume range for radio and satellite range is still narrow.

That's unusual. Does your volume start at the same level when you start the car? Usually if I turn the car off with the volume over 13, like at 20, it'll start at 12 or 13 automatically, I forget which. Anything less, and it'll stay at the lower level when starting the car. Since you're just starting the lease, take it back to the dealer and have them look at it.

The volume stays at the level I left it at, unless, like you said I had the volume at 20. It is odd. When playing media, i.e. juke box, iPod, SD card, etc., I have full range and can turn radio up to 20 if I like. With radio or Sat, max volume is like 6 or 7. I'll take it back in some time soon. Hopefully there is a fix.

I've had problems with the volume control on my 2016 A6, too. Audi had to do a software re-install to fix the problem.

Thanks for your reply. Would you please let me know what software version your car is running now?
