Default I joined the tire bubble club

Hit a pothole on the Northern State Pkwy. Knew as soon as I hit it that I messed up the tire. Checked it when I got gas. Huge bubble on the sidewall. Luckily the tires aren't worn far enough that I need to replace all 4 (11.6k miles), so just that 1 will be changed for now. $235 installed for an 18" Conti ProContact.

Can't even sue the county. Its considered a 1 car accident, so if I sue them, I have to get GEICO involved, which isn't worth it since my deductible is $1,000 and the tire is less. No sense in chancing higher rates for no pay out.

In Minnesota if you hit a pothole on certain roadways, you can file a claim with the department of transportation and request reimbursement. Interesting that different states have different regulations. Guess this is my over taxed dollars at work.

That sucks dude. At least you checked for a bubble after you took the hit. My grandfather took my car to work one day and either curbed it or hit a pot hole. Long story short, the tire popped on me when I hit a bump. Luckily I have the road hazard plan from my dealer, so my investment paid off.

I'm not sure if pothole is the root cause of this S4 crash.

I love fast, but tracks were built for that, not surface streets.

Not even worth trying. I'm not about to pull over and walk onto the highway to take pictures.

Mike, do you trim the single new tire to get same tread depth as the old ones?

Nope. Thats right by my house (I live right off exit 25). The road rises there and if you're speeding, you can go airborne. Theres ALWAYS traffic there because people slow down. Can almost guarantee thats what happened, and with the poor traction of the wet, slick road, the car couldn't handle it.
