2.0T engines between MY 2013 and 2014: real 9 gain or marketing ploy?
My brother is looking at either leasing a new 2014 A6 2.0T quattro with the 220 hp engine or purchasing a CPO 2013 A6 2.0T quattro with the 211 hp engine with only 8K miles on the odometer. The price difference is only about $3-4K but the CPO car gives him 92K miles of warranty and he will use up all those miles in 6 years since he does drive a lot.
Did Audi make any actual changes to the 2.0T engine for the 2014 model year to get the extra 9 horses (higher boost, hardware changes, etc.) ? I'm a bit skeptical since the torque number did not change at all.

It sounded like a minor tuning change that yielded a few extra ponies at a very hi rev point meaning most people will never notice it.

I have a 2013 A6 P+ with the 2.0 engine and Quattro. I recently had a 2014 with the 220 hp 2.0 as a service loaner when I went for scheduled maintenance. To be honest, the 220 hp version seemed no more peppy at the normal speeds I was driving at. The torque is, as you mentioned, the same in the 2013 and the 2014. In every day stoplight to stoplight driving, torque is king, so I do not think there would be any notable difference. I believe the Audi of America website's 0-60 numbers are identical for the 2013 and 2014 models with the 2.0, Quattro and Tiptronic.
