The only thing I liked better about my old A6 is the Bose stereo. It had a lot more sound coming from the speakers in the doors. In the new one, it seems like all the sound is coming from the dash. I adjusted the surround level, but that didn't help. Any other adjustment suggestions?
There is a TSB for the "not enough bass" which is independent of the MMI update, it is TSB 2034360/2.

It makes a HUGH difference to the Bose. My car is 2013 built 9/2012, not sure if the TSB apply to other model year.

Good luck.

So, if I say the "bass sucks, what can you do for me?" is it reasonable to expect them to upgrade the firmware?

Give them the TSB and see if they will do it. Should be covered under warranty.
The MMI TSB is 2030465/2, that fixes lots of issues with Bluetooth streaming.

Call AOA if you have problem with the dealer, also fill out the survey they send you after each visit and AOA or the dealer will contact you if it is BAD.

Good luck.

Actually, it was not an audio streaming problem but after Apple released iOS 6 in Sep, 2012 (on any iPhone, not just the 5s or 5c which came out a year later), the streamed song info disappeared - music was not affected. MMI 0609 (and the later 0715-2) resolved that issue for iPhones with iOS 6 and 7.

I have my car at the dealer now. They are recommending an 'amplifier software upgrade' that can't 'be undone', not an MMI upgrade. We'll see how this goes, but it doesn't sound great.

Hmm, I am curious to hear about the results.

I picked my car up this morning. Here's what they did:
- "Found TSB 203460/2, informed customer and they approved the repairs"
- "In order to perform update, I first had to run the K0715 update from 2030465/6 so that it would accept the new paramiterization of the sound system module."
- "Once the K0715 update was finished, I ran the update to the sound system module and it took the paramiterazation."

I don't know what any of this really means, however, here's what changed:
- the bass sounds a TON better
- the speakers in the doors actually produce decent sound now
- there is better integration with my iPhone 5 (for example, the 'Play Time' data now shows")

Here's what didn't change:
- the HD radio sound quality still stinks

So, all in all, this was worth the time and effort to get the update done. Thanks for all the guidance from the Forum, guys. You guy are good!

I have a 2013 S6 with the Bose system. I think I might be in the minority here but I traded up from an E60 BMW with the premium sound system and I think my current system sounds good - better than the BMW. The bass is strong for a factory system. I have had aftermarket sound systems in other cars. Of course the bass is nothing like the 2 JL Audio W7s i had in my SUV but overall I think it is good. Maybe my system has the upgraded software that many are talking about. Just my 2 cents.

Thanks for sharing...I just had my tech do all updates available for my 2012 A6 and i got the MMI 715-2, which has improved the Bose system. He didn't mention doing a separate amplifier update..i'll have to ask to confirm. I have not heard of this before.

I've just had the 715 update done to my A6 also and the Bose system does sound better, the first thing I noticed was a dramatic improvement to the base. No mention was made of an update to the amplifier.
